Record the amount and payment deadline

Record the main sum owed (principal), interest and costs separately. Record the payment date or instalments ordered and the address or account details safely. Send a concise request quoting the claim number and deadline.

When payment arrives, verify the cleared amount and date before marking the judgment satisfied. Keep proof of receipt and communicate any shortfall.

If payment is late

Use the GOV.UK enforcement guide (opens in a new tab) to compare methods. The right method depends on what is known about the debtor's assets, bank account, employment or property and on the value of the judgment.

Check the current form and fee, whether permission is required, recoverability of the fee and any transfer rules. Enforcement creates additional cost and may not produce payment.

Keep a final record once payment is complete

Update the account, store the final order and payment proof, record any credit or satisfaction step, and separate reusable learning from private documents. Review whether any costs protection still needs to be reflected in later service-charge accounts.
